3 - Wireless GPS Dog Fence & Training Collar with Real-Time Tracking, Sunburst, Small

So we have been using the halo collar with Fen, our 3 year old German shepherd for about 6 months now and here are the ups and downs that we have experienced.First, the training steps that you undergo are incredibly good. I learned a lot about dog training in general, especially learning that your mood affects the dog, as well as how they learn by association.So in the beginning, when you start the beacon training indoors, we had some trouble with the accuracy of the beacon, and on top of having a very small indoor space to work with, we went past that level rather quickly and moved outside so he could learn the perimeter and the beacon a little better.He flew through those steps with ease. And to be honest, six months in, we have more issues with the collar functioning properly than with him breaking through the barrier bc of a distraction. He has done so good and even things like turkeys and deer outside of the perimeter aren’t distracting him nearly as much.So the reason I gave this product four stars instead of five is bc the collar doesn’t always work. You use the collar through the app, and it connects through gps. Well the collar loses connection quite often. I can be watching him from the house window, and see where he is and in the yard, but the collar won’t have a connection at all to display his location or status in the fence. This happens more than half of the time he wears the collar and loses connection for several minutes up to an hour at a time. We live in a normal rural area, with good cell phone signals and internet so I can’t see how it wouldn’t be working good.There is also a lag on the feedback sometimes, this is also due to the connection. He might go past the barrier but the feedback occurs much later, even when he gets back into the fence. So it’s not a perfect system by no means. But we continue to use it, and it keeps Fen in the fence with us keeping an eye on him, practicing recall, and continuing to work with him on the boundaries all the time.Another issue we had, this happened only once, was the collar “glitched” and for some reason thought he was outside the fence and he wasn’t. It continued to give him static over and over. He came to us quickly (we were sitting on the porch) and we realized by his behavior and the notifications on the phone that it was in continuous emergency feedback alert. (That means he is getting static hits over and over) We took the collar off of him right away, and it continued to glitch for almost an hour while we troubleshooted it with the help team, shutting it down and resetting it etc. I gotta say that set us back quite a bit with our training, we were still in the first few months of training and after that he was not receptive to wearing the collar or training when it was on. He was really scared for a while. But he eventually bounced back, thank goodness it hasn’t happened again. We never leave the collar on him without us home with him.In all, the system is a really good way to have a fence, and a location on your pup. We like the convenience of having a fence anywhere we go, after showing Fen the boundaries. It’s also nice to use it just for tracking, if he takes off in the woods on a hike or something. It works a little more than 50% of the time. Maybe it’s the mountains, not sure. Worth the money, and time you have to put into it though.

Right now, this is just a review of the customer support. Today I connected with Aaron to work through an issue with my account. He was awesome and got me a resolution quickly.As far as the collar performance goes, it is pretty early on for me using this but so far it looks to be amazing. I see updates in near real time (< 2 seconds) where my dog is. We have a 10 acre property and setting up the virtual fence was one click you really can’t get easier than that.As we have more experience with the collar, if it is not a 5 star, I’ll come back and update the review.

The Halo collar has exceeded our expectations! We began training our 5 month old Labrador in January '25 and she is doing great learning where her safe area is within our property. We have peace of mind knowing that she is safe while roaming free!Halo provides a plethora of information regarding set up pf the collar, property boundaries, training, using the App and options for customer support. I recently contacted customer support after a rivet/pin became dislodged from our pup's collar. It was nice to talk to (and see!) a real person via video chat. I spoke with Logan who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and he rectified the situation by sending out new rivets along with an allen wrench to attach them. I was able to actually show him where the minor issue was on our collar. Thank you, Logan!Thank you, Halo, for a great product!

We live on a farm, and I was really hoping this item would work for us. Unfortunately, the GPS location isn’t very accurate. Our property has a pole fence that is visible on the GPS map, so we set the virtual fence to match it exactly. However, when we send the dogs out, we notice a discrepancy of about 1–3 feet, either inside or outside the boundary.Another issue we encountered is that the GPS collar frequently loses signal, and it takes about two minutes to reconnect. In that time, a dog could cover a significant distance, which is a major concern.I have already returned the collar, but I am still facing an unresolved issue—how to cancel the subscription service. Please provide guidance on how to proceed with the cancellation.The dog learned to respect the fence better, but I noticed that this collar upset her. Since using it, she seems less happy wearing any type of collar or leash. We show our dogs, and I’ve noticed she has lost some of her usual spirited energy in the ring. That’s the only time she wears anything other than this collar, which she only wore when running in our backyard.

Customer support is great! The collar works great. Solved all our safety and trading concerns. I highly recommend this collar.My wife says it doesn't hurt at all. :) LOL.
